    “Horus, Egyptian Deity”

Being a longtime fan of ancient history and art, I was very pleased to take on the project of creating my version of an iconic figure from the Egyptian late pre-dynastic period.
The deity, “Horus”, is believed to be one of the most revered Gods in ancient Egyptian beliefs. In the form of a falcon, or falcon/human combination, he was the son of Isis, another outstanding and significant figure in Egyptology.

Horus represents Kingship, Protection, Quintessence (5th element that permeates all nature), and
Healing. It is an image with much symbolism and history. The right eye of Horus represents the morning star, or sun, and the left eye the evening star, or moon.

The hieroglyphs on the base were selected for their meaning and aesthetics.

    “LEGACY”
This sculpture pays homage to a horse I had the great honor to own and ride for over 3 decades. I
named her “Mariah”, and she was one of the last offspring sired by the stellar stallion, “Tanqueray Gin”,
standing at stud at the legendary Four Sixes Ranch in Guthrie, Texas….. known for their exceptional
    ranch bred quarter horses.
So inspired by this mare’s remarkable athleticism, sensitivity, and intelligence, I decided to continue the
line with my own small breeding program. This led me to find a ranch that had green pastures and more
    space suited to raising foals.
I found my ideal ranch just south of Abiquiu on the Rio Chama. While considering it, the more I visited
the ranch the more I fell in love with the charming, richly diverse Chama Valley area.
I am so grateful to have the stewardship of this land that I purchased over 30 years ago, and hope to
end my days here. From the very first time I saw it, I felt this ranch to be my soul place, where my heart
is happy and at peace, and so it has proven to be.
